This year’s National Day fireworks during the Double Tenth holiday were held in Taitung. After the successful conclusion last night, the flow of returning traffic will begin today. In order to prepare for the strong collision of returning traffic from the north and east of the Hengchun Peninsula in advance, the Pingtung Police and the Highway Bureau have deployed lanes and gradually changed lanes at 3 o’clock. The front and rear ends have cooperated in order to pass through the section north of the Fangshan Mariba Bridge, the bottleneck of the north return, in an orderly manner.

As the National Day fireworks in Taitung have come to an end, tourists from all over the country are starting to return home one after another. In addition, with the influx of tourists from southern tourist attractions such as Kenting, Ping'e Highway has already seen a huge flow of traffic returning from the north. The traffic flow has gradually appeared this afternoon, with a peak of nearly 3,000 vehicles from 3 to 4 o'clock, posing a challenge to traffic management.

The Pingtung County Government Police Department has completed diversion service planning and police deployment in advance. By monitoring road conditions in real time and flexibly adjusting traffic control measures, it has fully responded to the return traffic flow to ensure smooth traffic on major roads and allow people to return home safely.

The first measure for vehicles from the east to return to Pingtung is a gradual change. On the dual-flow section of Provincial Highway 9 from 440K to 440K+400 meters, the highway bureau will gradually reduce the southbound (westbound) 2 lanes to 1 lane in advance to prevent vehicles from suddenly shrinking on narrow mountain roads and causing sharp deceleration or back-blocking, which is like "compressing" traffic flow.

Provincial Route 9 merges into the Maliba Bridge at Provincial Route 1. Due to the northbound and eastbound traffic on the Hengchun Peninsula, it has become a new congestion bottleneck in recent years. The Pingtung Police have transferred the southbound lane to the diverted lane used by the northbound traffic in Fenggang on the south side, which is equivalent to "decompressing" the traffic flow later. However, because the Hengchun Peninsula also has a large number of traffic flows, and there are still many red lights on the north side, it is not necessarily smooth.

The police emphasized that for northbound traffic, in addition to implementing manual signal control to extend the green light traffic time on important sections of Provincial Highway 1 and Provincial Highway 17, the northbound lane allocation of the Maungang-Fangshan section of Provincial Highway 1 has been activated at 15:05, and in conjunction with the implementation of traffic diversion control at the Yongxiang intersection of Provincial Highway 1, it will strengthen the traffic relief effect at the bottleneck section and the Shuidiliao Jianxing Wucha intersection, reduce traffic interweaving, and improve road traffic efficiency.
