As the core livelihood channel connecting Zhuhai and Macao, Gongbei Port has witnessed the coordinated acceleration of "hard connectivity" and "soft connectivity" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with its efficient exchanges.

Since the beginning of this year, the passenger flow at Gongbei Port has shown a trend of "high operation and concentrated peaks". According to statistics, in the first half of the year, Gongbei Border Inspection Station inspected more than 64 million inbound and outbound passengers, an increase of 6% over the same period last year; the single-day passenger flow reached a maximum of 463,000 passengers, setting a new record for the highest single-day passenger flow in 2025 three times in a row.

From the perspective of the composition of passenger flow, people traveling between Zhuhai and Macao through Gongbei Port are mainly composed of three major groups: individual travelers, cross-border commuters, and business travelers. The proportion of "frequent travelers" in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao has remained at about 70% for a long time. Visitors from the two places, migrant workers in Macao, and cross-border study groups have become the main force in customs clearance.

In addition, China's visa-free "circle of friends" continues to expand. With the increasing number of international exchanges and business activities such as the APEC meeting and the Canton Fair, foreign tourists are starting to "China Travel" through Gongbei Port, and the port is becoming more internationalized. So far, the station has inspected nearly 700,000 foreign passengers this year, an increase of 11% year-on-year.

According to He Shujuan, deputy director of the Border Inspection Department of Gongbei Border Inspection Station, there are currently 153 smart express lanes at Gongbei Port, basically covering all inspection sites.
