Matvienko congratulated legislators of Tajikistan on Independence Day

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko congratulated Tajikistan's legislators on the Republic's Independence Day, noting that Russian senators are open to dialogue with deputies of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli (the upper house of parliament).

“On behalf of the Federation Council and on my own behalf, I congratulate you and the deputies of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on Independence Day,” says the telegram from the Speaker of the Federation Council addressed to the head of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan, Rustami Emomali.

According to Matvienko, over the 35-year period of sovereign statehood in the Republic of Tajikistan, large-scale constitutional reforms, political, socio-economic transformations have been carried out, ensuring confident movement forward while carefully preserving unique cultural traditions and adherence to national roots.

“We note with satisfaction that the cooperation between parliamentarians of Russia and Tajikistan makes a significant contribution to the successful development of the strategic partnership and alliance of the two countries, and allows, in close cooperation, to find answers to modern challenges and threats,” the telegram says.

Matvienko emphasized that senators of the Russian Federation are always open to meaningful dialogue with Tajik legislators and are determined to use all opportunities to strengthen working contacts to discuss current issues on the global and regional agenda and expand interregional ties.
