Manchester City responds to reports of its conviction for violating the English Premier League's financial rules

Manchester City were recently reported to have been found guilty of all but one charge, in a case of violating the Premier League's financial rules.

Last Friday, the Citizens issued a statement in response to these allegations, saying: “Premier League procedures are still ongoing, and there are important aspects that have not yet been completed, and the process is subject to complete confidentiality.”

The club continued: “For eight years, we have committed to respecting the established procedures with the utmost seriousness, based on the assumption that the English Premier League’s Board of Directors and its executive body will act as an independent, impartial and fair regulatory body, free from any biased influences.”

Circulating reports indicate that City was found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges he faced before an independent committee.

On Saturday, Khaldoun Al-Mubarak, president of Manchester City, said in a message published by the club’s account: “I have been part of this club for 18 years. I was honored to stand with you at Etihad Stadium, at Wembley, and in Istanbul. This club is dear to my heart, and you have shown me time and time again how important Manchester City is to you. That is why I am writing to you today (my letter).”

He added: “Following the media reports on Friday, many of you spent your evening answering questions and messages from friends, family and colleagues, and so did I. Here is what I said to my family: We still have a long way to go in the Premier League proceedings, and our confidence and determination to prove the club’s innocence remains as strong as it was at the beginning.”

He added: "There are many things that I would like to share with you to explain why we are so confident in our position, but our complete commitment to the confidentiality of legal procedures and our keenness to respect them prevents me from doing so at the present time. Even this letter has been subjected to several legal audits to ensure that it complies with the conditions."

Al-Mubarak continued: “Although some were quick to draw their own conclusions, and despite the noise surrounding us, nothing has changed. We have faced challenges together before and won. There are still many who seek to undermine the momentum of our club, and we will not give them this opportunity.”

Khaldoun Al Mubarak concluded: “Exciting moments await us after this international break. We will travel to Anfield in two weeks, then host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League at Etihad Stadium. Moments that give us an opportunity to celebrate the strength of the Manchester family.”
