Statements from Minister Çiftçi on Security and Extradition in Amasya

Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi came to Amasya within the scope of AKP's 'Türkiye Century Meetings' programs.

Making statements to journalists about public order and security efforts at the AKP Provincial Directorate here, Çiftçi said, "This year, Georgia extradited 438 people whom we sought with a red notice. While they have extradited 866 people so far, it is an important figure for us that they extradited 438 people this year. Organized crime organizations should not think that we will leave them behind when they commit a crime here and flee abroad. We follow them abroad as well. We catch them abroad and bring them to justice. In the coming days." Stating that they continue to monitor members of the criminal organization in case they escape abroad, Minister Çiftçi said that Turkey is working on extradition processes with different countries. Stating that Georgia extradited 438 people wanted under a red notice to Turkey this year, Çiftçi said that the total number of extraditions was higher in previous years. Çiftçi said, "They should not think that we will abandon them. We follow them abroad, we catch them abroad and bring them to justice in Turkey. In the coming period, we will make visits to Greece, Germany and Italy regarding the extradition of members and leaders of organized crime groups. We follow criminals wherever they go in the world."

Referring to the work carried out on the internet and social media, Çiftçi said that 184 thousand criminal elements were identified this year as a result of the "cyber patrols" and added: "We patrol both the street and the cyber world. We call it the green homeland, the blue homeland, the sky homeland. As an organization responsible for ensuring peace and security in the cyber homeland, we continue our work here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a result of the patrols we carried out, we closed 40 thousand web pages. 73 thousand social media accounts." "We blocked access to their accounts and closed 62,500 illegal betting sites. Even though the crimes are committed in the cyber world, the victims are real people."
