Minister Gürlek: Those who caused forest fires will not escape justice

Minister Gürlek, in his statement on his virtual media account, said, "Those who burn our forests will not escape justice. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we continue our work with determination to protect our Green Homeland, to identify those who cause forest fires with intent or negligence and to bring them to justice. In the investigations carried out by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding 9 new forest fires that occurred in the week of August 30-September 6, 2 suspects were identified. 1 of the suspects was arrested. "Judicial control measures were taken against 1 of them. Since June 1, 2026, 70 suspects have been identified in the investigations carried out regarding 103 forest fires in 27 provinces. 16 of these suspects were arrested, judicial control measures were taken against 32 suspects and an arrest warrant was issued for 2 suspects."

'NO ONE WILL GET AWAY WITH WHAT THEY DID'

Minister Gürlek said, "Our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in coordination with our police and gendarmerie organizations, continues to meticulously investigate the causes of the fires, the people who were negligent or intentional, and all aspects of the events. No one who harms our Green Homeland or causes our forests to burn with negligence will get away with it; we will continue our judicial fight against forest fires without compromise."
