Bank workers hold 24-hour strike this Thursday due to salary campaign

Bank employees across the country will go on a 24-hour strike this Thursday (20), amid negotiations for the 2026 salary campaign. The category demands adjustments to salaries and benefits, an increase in the minimum wage and changes in profit sharing (PLR).

The strike was approved in assemblies held on Monday (17) and confirmed by the National Command of Bank Workers. The guidance for account holders is to resolve problems through financial institutions' applications and internet banking.

Among the requests presented by workers are: 5% real increase (above inflation) in salaries and other funds; increase in the minimum wage for the category; readjustment of meal voucher values ​​(VR); increase in food vouchers (VA); and appreciation of profit sharing (PLR).

According to the National Banking Command, the category is awaiting a proposal from the banks for the demands presented in the salary campaign.

Adherence to the strike

The 24-hour shutdown does not necessarily mean the automatic closure of all branches and banking units.

Adhesion will depend on the participation of workers and the activities organized by unions in each region.

Bank employees working from home were advised not to access bank systems or register time during the shutdown period.

Negotiations

The category's agenda of demands was delivered to the National Federation of Banks (Fenaban) on June 24th. Negotiations began on July 2.

The National Command of Bank Workers states that, to date, a proposal for the economic demands of the 2026 campaign has not been presented.

However, Fenaban and the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) reported that they received the agenda on June 24th and that the negotiation calendar remains within the established schedule.

The strike occurs on the eve of the category's base date and represents a new stage in the mobilization of workers in this year's salary negotiations.
