Kitchen gas cylinder exploded in Bandırma: 6 injured

Hasan Çelikalp, who lives in the flat on the 1st floor of the 4-storey apartment building in 17 Eylül Mahallesi Sanayi Street, allegedly suspected a natural gas leak when he entered the kitchen to prepare breakfast around 06:00. The explosion occurred when Çelikalp lit a kitchen cylinder instead of a stove to brew tea.

As a fire broke out with the explosion, the residents of the building ran out in panic. While Hasan Çelikalp and 5 people in the house and the apartment on the upper floor were injured, the fire was extinguished by the fire crews dispatched to the area upon notice.

While 2 flats became unusable, it was learned that Hasan Çelikalp, one of the injured people who was taken to Bandırma Training and Research Hospital for treatment by the medical teams dispatched to the scene, had burns on his body and his condition remained serious.
