Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qimai attended the launch ceremony of the "Health Insurance Rehabilitation Ward" of Qishan Hospital today (3rd). As the first pilot hospital in the south, Qishan Hospital introduced a "home simulation environment" to create a seamless connection from acute treatment to home care and practice local rehabilitation.

Faced with the challenges of an aging society and uneven distribution of medical resources in rural areas, the Gao City Government has joined hands with the Central Health Insurance Agency and the medical system to make every effort to improve the regional care network. Chishan Hospital, located in the hub of Kaohsiung's East 9th District, officially launched the first "Health Insurance Rehabilitation Ward Pilot Project" in the south today to provide more comprehensive rehabilitation services for acutely ill and elderly patients during their golden rehabilitation period, greatly reducing the heavy burden of long-term travel to and from the city for care for family members living in rural areas.

Qishan Hospital stated that this pilot project specifically combines wards, rehabilitation spaces and "home simulation environments" to implement the National Health Insurance Department's care quality goal of "what can be done in the treatment room, but can be used at home"; in the future, it will develop towards a continuous recovery model of "acute medical care, functional recovery, preparation for returning home, and community care", which perfectly aligns with the national "Long-term Care 3.0" policy and ensures that a professional medical team will take over and accompany each stage, so that the elderly can "see treatment locally, recover locally, and return home with peace of mind."

In his speech, Mayor Chen Qimai especially thanked all the medical and rehabilitation teams for their hard work. He used the experience of Kaohsiung's transformation into a concert city as an example, encouraged medical colleagues to continue to make breakthroughs, and emphasized that "the definition of greatness is to take good care of the elderly and patients even in difficult circumstances." He affirmed that Qishan Hospital, as the patron saint of East Nine District, has overcome the limited environment and created history. He hopes that this model can become a model for rural medical care in Kaohsiung and even the country.
