Iranian advisor warns that if the U.S. attacks again, the front line could expand to the Indian Ocean

According to AFP, Advisor Safavid said in a video released by Iran's Fars News that day, "As the conflict has spread from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, it is possible that the front line will expand further in response to an additional war, reaching into the Indian Ocean and possibly beyond."

Although Iranian officials have previously threatened to expand the geographic scope of the conflict if US airstrikes resume, this is the first time an advisor to Iran's supreme leader has explicitly mentioned the Indian Ocean, AFP reported.

In the Indian Ocean, about 4,000 km away from Iran, there is the Diego Garcia military base jointly used by the United States and the United Kingdom.

Recently, the United States and Iran resumed contacts at the United Nations General Assembly being held in New York. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 23rd that his eldest son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the 22nd to discuss pending issues.
