Quintin stated that the fire, which affected an area of ​​nearly 3 thousand hectares, was brought under control in Jalhay in Belgium and Monschau in Germany, and thanked the countries that supported it.

In his statement on X, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever thanked the citizens who contributed to the fire extinguishing efforts and the countries that helped.

Minister of Defense Theo Francken stated in his post on X that, in addition to the Netherlands and Sweden, France and Luxembourg also provided support to fight the fire.

Stating that everyone, including the Ministry of Defense, should "do much more" to fight fires, Francken said, "Many new and high-quality firefighting equipment has arrived and orders are still ongoing, but they are insufficient." he said.

Francken stated that the "general resilience" of society should be increased and that he would soon present the "Military Fire Brigade Action Plan" to the Parliament.

According to the latest data, the area affected by the fire approached 3 thousand hectares.

The fire, which is still not fully under control, has become the largest fire on record in Belgium, leaving behind the fire in 2011, which damaged approximately 1400 hectares of land.

Some sections of the highways in the region are closed to traffic due to the fire.
