House fire in Bilecik: Father and daughter lost their lives

It was revealed that the father and his daughter, who lost their lives in a house fire in Bilecik's Gölpazarı district, re-entered their house to fight the fire.

According to the news in AA, a fire broke out in a 2-storey detached house in Kurşunlu village of the district, caused by a chimney.

Upon notice, gendarmerie, health, fire brigade and AFAD teams were dispatched to the region. After the fire was extinguished by the teams, it was determined that Mehmet Erdönmez (72) and his daughter Fazilet Erdönmez (47), who were in the house, lost their lives.

The bodies of the father and daughter were taken to the morgue of Bilecik Training and Research Hospital for autopsy after the prosecutor's office examined them.

Erdönmez's wife, Hamdiye Erdönmez, escaped from the fire with her own means.

HEADMAN MADE THE FIRST INTERVENTION

Headman of Kurşunlu village, Fahrettin Doğruk, told the AA correspondent that his neighbors informed him about the fire in the morning.

Stating that he saw smoke coming out of the house when he went to the scene, Doğruk said, "I gave the first aid with the tanker behind my tractor. Meanwhile, we notified the fire department, but we could not save our neighbors." he said.

Doğruk stated that he set fire to the chimney of Mehmet Erdönmez's house last night in order to clean it.

Stating that the flame did not go out throughout the night and spread to the trees adjacent to the house in the morning, Doğruk said, "When they see the fire, they first go outside. Then they go back inside to intervene. They died there due to smoke poisoning. The fire had spread to both floors." he said.

Nurettin Doğruk, the opposite neighbor of the Erdönmez family, also noted that he saw smoke coming out of the house in the morning.

Stating that he informed his brother Fahrettin Doğruk about the situation, Doğruk said, "At first, my brother intervened with his tanker. Then the fire brigade came. We helped the work by pulling a hose, but we could not save them." made his assessment.

Faruk Aydın, one of those who intervened in the fire, stated that Erdönmez's wife, Hamdiye Erdönmez, was sitting in front of the house when they arrived at the scene.

Stating that they could not enter the house due to intense smoke and flames, Aydın said that although they intervened from outside, they could not save their neighbors.
