Brazil defeated India 4-0 in a friendly match played in Calcutta, an absolute first for the Asian national team, currently 138th in the world ranking, against the major green and gold team. The match had aroused much anticipation but the 65,000 seat stadium in Kalkata was half empty, probably due to ticket prices which ranged from the minimum equivalent of ten euros, the only ones sold out, up to a maximum of 230.
