Patented cryptocurrency payment system for transport and parking

A digital currency (cryptocurrency) payment system for travel tickets, tolls and parking has been patented by a Florentine company. The patent was granted last July 1st by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy to Aep Ticketing Solutions of Signa, specialized for decades in electronic ticketing systems for public transport.

The invention, developed by engineers Alessandro Sansone (CEO of Aep) and Roberto Dell'Eva, was registered on 8 May 2024 and allows you to purchase tickets, season tickets, motorway tolls and parking spaces directly in cryptocurrencies (for example Bitcoin or Dogecoin) without the intervention of banks, payment managers or financial intermediaries.

The smartphone and the transport company have their own public address on the blockchain: when the user purchases a travel ticket - it is explained - the system generates a transaction that transfers the amount due, in digital currency, from the user's wallet to that of the transport company. All authorized by the user's private key, kept by the blockchain node. The solution is designed to adapt to various transport realities.

The same invention was registered internationally through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (Pct) and published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (Wipo) on November 13, 2025, with the number WO2025/233853.
