The trial of Salican Mehmet, who killed Arzu Khalılova with scissors in Bursa, continued

The incident took place on November 3, 2025, around 15:00, at the house on 2nd Birol Street in Değirmenlikızık District of Yıldırım district.

The argument that broke out between Arzu Khalılova and Salican Mehmet, with whom she had a religious marriage, turned into a fight.

Salican Mehmet attacked Khalilova, the mother of his two daughters, aged 4 and 1, with scissors.

Salican Mehmet's mother F.M., who was sitting downstairs and heard the voices and went upstairs, saw Arzu Khalılova lying on the floor and reported the situation to her husband İ.M.

Upon İ.M.'s notice, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address.

While Salican Mehmet was caught with scissors in his hand, Khalılova, who was injured and taken to Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital by ambulance, lost her life.

In the autopsy, it was determined that Khalilova had a total of 146 scissor entries in different parts of her body, 72 of which were fatal on their own.

The body was buried after the procedures.

'WE DID NOT HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH MY WIFE'

In his statement at the police station; Salican Mehmet, who said that he and Arzu Khalılova have been living together in a religious marriage for 4 years, claimed that he had psychological problems and was receiving treatment and said, "I have started to have psychological problems in the last few months.

For this reason, I started receiving inpatient treatment at the Psychiatric Hospital in Bursa about 2 months ago.

I was treated here for about 21 days and was discharged.

When I was discharged, I was given medication to be used 3 times a day.

I used these drugs for a while.

During this time, my wife and I had fights, we hit each other, but we never complained about each other.

When we were arguing with my wife, sometimes my eyes would roll and I would suddenly shine, not knowing what I was doing.

"But we didn't have any serious problems with my wife," he said.

'I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I ATTACKED WITH THE SCISSORS.'

In his statement; Mehmet, who said that one day before the incident, he and his wife had an argument and hit each other because their little daughter was crying, explained the following:

"On the day of the incident, my eldest daughter went to her grandmother.

Our baby was at home.

My wife was collecting the laundry.

He said to me, 'Look at the child.'

And I said, 'I'm looking.'

When he still told me 'Look after the child', I got angry because we were fighting even more than yesterday.

At that moment, I lost my vision again.

Then I went to the nursery.

I looked at the child and took the scissors that were there.

After that I came to the hall.

I started attacking my wife directly with scissors.

I attacked with scissors many times, but I don't know how much.

Then my wife collapsed to the ground."

CRIME RECORD HAS BEEN PUBLISHED

It was revealed that Salican Mehmet, who was arrested in the courthouse where he was referred after his procedures at the police station, had 8 records for the crimes of 'Deliberate wounding', 'Possession of drugs for use', 'Violation of the firearms law', and that action was taken against him for the crime of 'Sexual intercourse with a minor' due to his action against Arzu Khalilova, whom he also killed.

The trial of Salican Mehmet, who was sued for aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder against a woman', continued at Bursa 19th High Criminal Court.

The detained defendant and Arzu Khalılova's mother, Zülfiye Halil, the defendant's mother, F.M., and her father, İ.M., attended the hearing. and party lawyers attended.

At the first hearing, Salican Mehmet, who claimed that the victim came to him with scissors in his hand, contrary to his statement at the police station, and said that he took the scissors from his hand in order to defend himself and that he did not remember what happened next, stated that he had nothing to say this time after the presiding judge gave him the floor.

'I DID NOT UNDERSTAND'

Khalilova's mother, Zülfiye Halil, who stated that she did not complain about her son-in-law for the sake of her 2 grandchildren at the first hearing, said that she did so by asking for a statement at the second hearing.

Saying that he did not know the meaning of filing a complaint, Halil said, “I will say, let him be punished.

At the previous hearing, I said I was not complaining, I was deceived, I did not understand.

I said I did not want to participate in the case.

However, I did not know the legal aspect.

"I have a complaint against the defendant," he said.

IT WILL BE INVESTIGATED WHETHER THEY ARE MENTALLY HEALTHY.

The court decided to write a warrant to the Observation Specialization Department of the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute and to continue his detention in order to determine whether the defendant is of sound mind and whether he understands the legal meaning and consequences of the crime he committed.
