"BUSAN VIBE: WAVE" international design exchange exhibition debuts at Taipei Songshan Cultural and Creative Park

[Reporter Dong Baiting/Taipei Report] For many Taiwanese tourists, Busan, South Korea is a holiday destination full of sea breeze, beautiful scenery of Haeundae and authentic pork soup and rice. However, this ocean city is using design energy to transform the city. The "BUSAN VIBE: WAVE" international design exchange exhibition, co-sponsored by the Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Design Promotion Institute and the Industrial Development Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and co-organized by the Taiwan Design Institute, will be on display at the Taiwan Design Center in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, Room 02, until November 8, leading the audience to re-understand Busan from the perspective of ordinary people.

The exhibition breaks away from the traditional government propaganda framework. The core highlight "Design From Busan" directly brings the original local life style, gathering the surroundings of the "Busan is good" city brand, from daily stationery, fishing net woven bags, suitcase covers to cultural and creative gadgets, specifically showing how city identification deeply penetrates into the daily lives of citizens. Another highlight of the exhibition is the "Design Spots selected by citizens", which breaks the standard recommendation in tourist brochures and allows local residents to personally vote for private design spaces hidden in street corners, alleys and seaside promenades.

The exhibition also presents the most popular "circular design" practice. The local design team transforms discarded marine resources and industrial scraps into fashionable lifestyle appliances, integrating the concept of sustainability into food culture and home furnishing selections. The organizer pointed out that Busan is making every effort to become the World Design Capital in 2028. Design is no longer just an object placed in an art museum, but directly responds to the street environment, public transportation and the daily lives of ordinary people in the city. People only need to spend 100 yuan for admission to experience this wave of innovative design sweeping South Korea's seaports in Songyan.
