200 Vinasun drivers were trained by BYD NEG on operating, charging, energy management, and handling situations related to BYD pure electric vehicles in Vietnam.
The transition to new energy vehicles in the transportation sector places new demands on the knowledge and skills of those directly driving. According to BYD NEG representative, with continuous and high-intensity operation like a taxi, a correct understanding of the battery, charging, operating characteristics and on-board technologies has direct implications for operational efficiency, as well as safety during use.
From this need, auto distributor and retailer BYD NEG coordinated with Vinasun to organize a training program on operating skills and technical handling of electric vehicles on August 26 at 648 Nguyen Trai, Ho Chi Minh City. About 200 Vinasun drivers participated in direct training with BYD NEG's professional team. The program was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Mac, Deputy General Director of Taxi Vinasun, representatives of BYD NEG and leaders and related departments of the two units.
According to the business, instead of focusing on product theory, training content is built around situations drivers may encounter during daily use of electric vehicles. In particular, the BYD NEG team directly guides drivers to identify common types of chargers, the characteristics of each charging method and how to choose the form that suits their operating needs.
Content related to energy management, battery capacity monitoring, operating characteristics and how to handle some technical situations are also discussed specifically in the program.
Three BYD car models, including Sealion 6, M6 and Dolphin, were brought to the program by BYD NEG to increase the intuitiveness of the training process. Drivers can directly learn about the features, safety technology and operating characteristics of each vehicle model, thereby identifying differences that need to be kept in mind when switching from an internal combustion engine vehicle to a new energy vehicle.
According to the business, the practical exchange session received active participation from drivers, with questions surrounding charging methods, battery management, use of features and situations that may arise during operation... Q&A content, mini games and gifts are integrated to make technical knowledge more accessible.
"When electric vehicles are put into high-intensity transport operations, the story does not end with choosing a suitable vehicle. The direct operator needs to understand the vehicle, know how to charge, manage energy and properly handle situations that may arise in reality," said a BYD NEG representative. "Programs like this also help us receive direct feedback from drivers so that support activities become closer to actual operating needs."
Accordingly, BYD NEG said that the business determines that accompanying customers and partners in training, engineering and operations is an important part of the process of putting new energy vehicles into use.
From the perspective of transportation businesses, Mr. Nguyen Van Mac, Deputy General Director of Vinasun Taxi, said that switching to electric vehicles entails bigger changes than replacing vehicles, causing drivers and related departments to need to adapt technology, operating methods and new requirements in the process of serving customers.
"Electric vehicles have different characteristics from internal combustion engine vehicles. Operation, acceleration, regenerative braking, energy management, battery capacity monitoring, charging methods and handling technical situations all need to be mastered. Therefore, the driving team and related departments need to properly understand, use correctly and gradually master new technology," Mr. Nguyen Van Mac shared.
According to Vinasun, as passenger requirements are increasingly high, modern vehicles need to be accompanied by service quality, safety and the driver's ability to master technology. The training is one of the preparation steps for this business to gradually put electric vehicles into actual transport operations.
Through the Vinasun coordination program, BYD NEG will continue to expand its role, from providing products to supporting training and operating new energy vehicles. This is also the direction this business is pursuing to help customers and partners have more practical access to electric vehicles, contributing to promoting the green transformation process in the field of passenger transport in Vietnam.
