Reserve PM arrested on suspicion of trying to leave supermarket without paying for 2 kg of meat, chocolates, cassava starch and other products in RS

A 60-year-old man was arrested after being approached by employees at a market in Imbé. According to the Municipal Guard, he had tried to leave the place with goods that did not go through the cash register.

A 60-year-old reserve lieutenant was arrested on Friday (4) in Imbé. He tried to leave a supermarket without paying for meat and other products.

Officials suspected the man's movement. After paying for a few items and leaving, the suspect removed products from his clothes when questioned.

The man was restrained by security guards from a private company. One of the professionals reported having been hit by an elbow in the face during restraint.

During an inspection of the suspect's vehicle, two 9 mm pistol magazines were found. In total, there were 15 ammunition.

The suspect identified himself as a reserve military police officer. After recording the incident, the corporation sent the man to a battalion in Porto Alegre.

A reserve lieutenant of the Military Brigade — the Military Police of RS —, aged 60, was arrested red-handed on Friday (4) in Imbé, on the North Coast of Rio Grande do Sul, suspected of trying to leave a supermarket without paying for several products.

According to the Municipal Guard, among the items were:

Common lettuce;

Second-rate ground beef (472 g);

Window rib (1.036 kg);

Beef chuleta (708 g);

6 chocolate bars;

2 units of powdered seasoning;

2 packages of pastry dough;

1 package of sweet cassava starch.

g1 contacted BM, but did not receive a response until the publication of this report.

The Municipal Guard team was called to respond to an incident initially reported as a robbery in a supermarket. When he arrived at the scene, he found the man already restrained by a security guard from a private company.

According to the establishment's owners' report to the agents, a butcher's employee noticed that the customer had placed pieces of meat in the cart and alerted those responsible for the market to monitor the movement. The suspicion was that some of the goods were not registered in the cash register.

According to those responsible for the supermarket, in a report made to municipal guards, the man had passed through the cashier and only paid for a few items. Other products that would have been seen by employees would have remained unregistered.

After leaving the cashier area and arriving on the public road, the military police officer was reportedly questioned about the goods. At that moment, according to the report of the incident, he removed part of the products from inside his clothes.

The owners activated the establishment's panic button, which led a private security team to the location. One of the security guards reported being hit by an elbow in the face during the restraint.

Subsequently, an investigation was carried out on the vehicle used by the suspect. According to the incident, two 9 mm pistol magazines were found with a total of 15 ammunition.

When questioned, the man reportedly said he was a military police officer and presented his functional identification. The parties involved were taken to the Polyclinic for reports to be carried out.

After the procedures, the reserve lieutenant was presented in the act by the Municipal Guard, according to the Civil Police. After registering the incident, he was sent by the Military Brigade to a battalion in Porto Alegre.
