JAKARTA, September 8 - RIA Novosti. Three Indonesian airports, including the capital's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, have resumed operations after being temporarily closed due to volcanic ash from the Anak Krakatoa eruption, Antara reported, citing airport operator InJourney Airports.

According to the company, Soekarno-Hatta resumed flight service on Tuesday at 0.30 local time (20.30 Moscow time Monday). Halim-Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta opened at 0.40 (20.40 Moscow time Monday), and Hussein Sastranegara in Bandung - at 0.42 (20.42 Moscow time Monday).

“The infrastructure of the flight and passenger areas of the three airports is ready to serve flights again. The readiness of all operational and maintenance personnel is also ensured,” said InJourney Airports representative Ari Ahsanurrohim.

Before the opening, experts cleared volcanic ash from runways, taxiways and aprons. Checking the adhesion properties of the strip coating showed that they meet the requirements for flight operations.

As the general manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport Heru Karyadi clarified, the restoration of work is taking place in stages. At the initial stage, an air traffic flow control system is used, which makes it possible to gradually increase the number of arriving and departing aircraft.

Passengers are urged to check the status of flights through official airline channels before heading to the airport as schedules may be subject to change.
