OSCOTECH transfers technology for autoimmune disease treatment ‘cevidoplenib’ to Agios in the U.S.

OSCOTECH [039200] announced that it will support researcher-led clinical trials even after transferring the technology of 'Cevidoplenib', a candidate for autoimmune disease treatment, to an American company.

In addition, the goal was to achieve another technology transfer result within three years after signing this technology transfer contract.

Taeyoung Yoon, CEO of OSCOTECH, announced this plan at a 'Sevidoplenib technology transfer information session' held in Yeouido on the 4th.

On the 1st, Oscotec signed a technology transfer agreement with Agios Pharmaceuticals, an American biopharmaceutical company.

Under the agreement, Oscotec transfers clinical development and global commercialization rights related to cevidoplenib to Azios.

Cebidoflenib is a synthetic new drug candidate that inhibits ‘spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK)’ overexpressed in immune cells, and was developed through joint research by Oscotec and Genosco.

Currently, global phase 2 clinical trials for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using this candidate material have been completed.

Agios will continue to develop cevidoplenib in the future. We will conduct phase 3 clinical research focusing on ITP and begin research to expand indications.

Regarding the background of technology transfer to Agios, CEO Yoon explained, "We have been discussing technology transfer with many companies around the world since the end of phase 2 clinical trials, but we decided that Agios, with its outstanding expertise in the field of rare blood diseases, is the optimal partner to maximize the value of sevidoplenib."

He also predicted that commercialization of ITP could occur before 2030.

Oscotek receives a down payment of $25 million (approximately 37.5 billion won) from Agios for this technology transfer. There is no obligation to return the deposit.

Considering milestones at each stage of development, licensing, and commercialization, a total of up to $665 million (approximately KRW 1 trillion) can be secured, and separate royalties can be received after commercialization.

OSCOTECH holds 75% of the technology fee, including down payment and milestones, and Genosco holds 25%.

OSCOTECH explained that with this technology transfer, it has secured a foundation for conducting other research and development.

The goal is to focus on research and development of ‘anti-resistant anti-cancer drugs’, which is the core pipeline, and create another technology transfer result within three years.
