Fraudsters have begun sending fake receipts to tourists renting cars in Turkey to steal their personal information.

The letter from the scammers suggests opening an electronic receipt using a “security code” that the company never uses, or downloading a document in UBL format.

Enterprise confirmed that such receipts come from scammers and asked not to open such letters, as they may contain viruses.

ISTANBUL, September 7 - RIA Novosti. Fraudsters have begun sending fake receipts to tourists who rent cars in Turkey to steal their personal data, Russian Anatoly, who came across this scheme after contacting the Enterprise rental service, told RIA Novosti.

Usually, after returning the car, Turkish rental companies return the deposit to the client and send a final receipt by email.

“I received a receipt from the company a few days after the end of the lease. However, the next day I received a letter again from supposedly Enterprise, more precisely, from their legal entity - the letter immediately went to spam,” said the Russian.

The letter, designed in a corporate style, suggested opening an electronic receipt using a “security code” that the company itself never uses, or downloading a document in UBL format. The amount in the letter completely coincided with the real one. At the same time, the scammers made a grammatical error in the name of the legal entity, RIA Novosti noted.

“Indeed, such receipts come from scammers, we are talking about an attempt at phishing - please do not open such letters under any circumstances. Such letters may contain viruses,” Enterprise confirmed to the agency.
