Minister of National Defense Gu Lixiong went to the Keelung area today (15th) to express condolences to the army and navy troops, and on-site inspection of the preparation and execution of combat readiness reconnaissance patrols. He also affirmed that officers and soldiers use rigorous training to accumulate strong combat power and protect national security.

The Ministry of National Defense pointed out that Gu Lixiong, accompanied by Deputy Chief Executive Officer General Huang Zhiwei and others, went to the Army's Waimushan Camp and the Navy's Weihai Camp this morning to listen to mission briefings and learn about the unit's combat readiness and recent important work; and awarded group bonuses to reward brothers and sisters who stick to their posts for their hard work. Gu Lixiong said, "When the navy sails, it encounters wind and waves, and every sailor must fight against the wind and waves." He affirmed the officers and soldiers of the 131th Fleet for their dedication in guarding national security on the front line, and their close concern for the conditions of living facilities and camps. Regarding the tasks such as sea area reconnaissance and patrol that the unit is responsible for, it also provides inquiries and guidance on combat readiness planning, hoping to continue to improve combat readiness based on real-life verification such as the Hanguang exercise.

During the visit to the Guanzhi Department, Gu Lixiong said that Keelung is located at an important strategic location on the north coast. The Guanzhi Department is responsible for the defense of the northern region and the protection of key infrastructure. The officers and soldiers stick to their posts day and night to protect the country. It is expected that cadres at all levels will continue to strengthen life care, implement psychological care, work together to increase the combat effectiveness of the troops, and jointly defend national security.
