Erdogan called on Zelensky to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Vladimir Zelensky about the need to take measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and the inadmissibility of attacks on commercial ships.

Erdogan announced Turkey's readiness to continue efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine with lasting peace and resume direct negotiations between the parties.

ANKARA, September 24 - RIA Novosti. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Vladimir Zelensky about the need to take measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea and the inadmissibility of attacks on commercial ships.

Erdogan and Zelensky met at the Turkish House in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

“Our president emphasized that measures must be taken to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, that attacks on merchant ships are unacceptable and that we expect responsible behavior from the parties,” the Turkish presidential administration said in a statement.

Erdogan also announced Turkey's readiness to continue efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine with a lasting peace.

“The Turkish President said that Ankara will continue to work to resume direct negotiations between the parties,” the statement said.
