Wide-folding mobile phones are becoming a trend. Apple executives revealed that rivals have already mastered the screen ratio.

"Wide folding" seems to have become a new trend in folding phones this year. In addition to Apple's first iPhone Duo, the Android camp has actually launched similar designs long before the debut of iPhone Duo, such as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Xiaomi 18 Fold, and Huawei Pura X Max. This has once again raised the topic of "who is copying who" in the folding phone market.

From the perspective of the Android camp, launching a wide-folding phone before Apple can of course be said to be "leading the way"; but Apple obviously has a different view and believes that some product development directions have already been grasped by competitors. Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of global marketing, said in an interview with foreign media that the outside world has long known through various leaks that Apple is developing a foldable phone. "Unfortunately, they have not even mastered the screen ratio."

Although Joswiak did not directly name him, it is generally interpreted that these remarks refer to Android competitors that have recently launched wide folding phones. However, Joswiak also emphasized that one of the key designs of the iPhone Duo has been successfully kept secret, which is the folding screen’s nano-texture surface treatment. He said that Apple has strengthened additional confidentiality measures for this purpose and has not disclosed relevant details to the outside world.

One of the development focuses of iPhone Duo is to reduce the presence of creases as much as possible. The nano-texture treatment on the screen surface reduces glare and reflection, making the central crease less obvious at certain viewing angles.

In addition, Apple's new CEO John Ternus also believes that some folding phones on the market have a "cheap plastic feel" due to their polymer screen surfaces. The iPhone Duo uses nano-texture surface treatment to improve this look and feel.

Turners also believes that the advantages of iPhone Duo are not only the hardware, but also the redesigned iOS operating experience. Apple describes the overall operation as "extremely intuitive" and emphasizes the continuity when switching between internal and external screens.
