The People Power Party urges the Democratic Party to adopt Yong Hye-in as a witness for the hearing... Request for withdrawal of nomination from Blue House

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Soo-yoon and Lee Yul-lip = On the 13th, People Power Party lawmakers from the Gender Equality and Family Committee of the National Assembly pressured the Blue House to request the withdrawal of Candidate Yong's nomination, saying that the Democratic Party of Korea is intentionally blocking the adoption of witnesses at the hearing of Minister of Gender Equality and Family Yong Hye-in.

Representatives Kang Seon-young and Kim So-hee held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Center on this day and said, "I hope that even now, we urge the Blue House to withdraw the nomination of candidate Yong, who is ineligible. If the hearing is to be held until the end, the Democratic Party should cooperate in selecting key witnesses."

They said that they had previously requested 28 witnesses, including Candidate Yong's husband, Park Ki-hong, a top member of the Basic Income Party, but the Democratic Party refused to accept all of them as witnesses except Moon Mi-jung, former acting leader of the Basic Income Party.

He then conveyed to the Democratic Party his intention to reduce the number of witnesses to 8, but added that the Democratic Party is maintaining its position that 'no witnesses other than one witness, Moon Mi-jeong, will be allowed, and if this is accepted, a hearing will be held on the 18th.'

They said, "According to the Personnel Hearing Act, a request for witness attendance must be delivered at least 5 days prior to the date of attendance request. Even if a plenary meeting is held tomorrow (14th) to select witnesses, there is no way to force attendance at the hearing on the 18th as the legal deadline does not meet," they said. "Isn't holding a hearing by suggesting a date when witnesses cannot appear a trick to hinder verification?"

In addition, the People Power Party requested the Democratic Party to adopt witnesses such as former Labor Party Women's Committee Chairman Kim Yun-young, and emphasized that the parties also agreed to appear. Former Labor Party Women's Committee Chairperson Kim is the person who claimed that she was the first to propose the 'Silent March in Remembrance of the Sewol Ferry Victims' officially listed in Candidate Yong's profile.
