This admission represents a real shift in the justifications for the war, and demolishes the narrative promoted by President Donald Trump and his Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, which praises the extreme accuracy of American weapons and their ability to limit hits to specific targets and not others.

This statement came against the backdrop of the devastating attack that targeted a wedding party in the Kohistank region in southern Iran. The joy turned into a tragedy, killing children and their entire families. Iranian media published the remains of an American missile bearing signs of military manufacturing, which exposed the massacre and prompted the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, to describe Washington as “the Great Satan” and demanded that those responsible for this heinous act be held accountable.

The wedding incident was not the first, but rather revealed a long list of human casualties among civilians since the outbreak of war at the end of last February. Reports documented casualties in several tragic incidents, most notably the victims of dozens of children and workers at the Minab School, and the Lamerd gym disaster that targeted civilians who were practicing their daily activities.
