The Jordanian government directs the rehabilitation of the “Blessed Tree” site and linking it to tourist trails

The announcement came during Hassan's visit to the "Blessed Tree" site in the Safawi area, also known as the Al-Baqi'awiyah Tree or the "Companion Tree", and to the project to revive the Azraq Water Oasis. The government directed to rehabilitate the road leading to the tree site and provide it with basic services to facilitate visitors’ access to it.

The Minister of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, Muhammad Al-Khalayla, said that the Baqi’awiyah tree is linked to a circulated historical narrative about the passage of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, in his childhood with his uncle Abu Talib on his way as part of a commercial caravan to the Levant, and the caravan’s rest in the region and his meeting with the monk Buhaira.

The project includes the Al-Shomari Wildlife Reserve, Al-Dahek Nature Reserve in the northeastern Badia, Qasr Amra, Al-Harrana Palace, Azraq Castle, and the Azraq Water Reserve, in addition to the Azraq Oasis Revival Project implemented by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, and the “Blessed Tree” area in Al-Safawi.

The plan aims to connect the oasis, natural reserves, desert palaces, and religious, historical and geological sites through new tourist routes and experiences, thus expanding tourism options and creating opportunities for investment and development in local communities. The project is expected to be opened to visitors before the end of next March, according to the official Jordanian News Agency.
