Iranian officials do not expect significant progress on resolving the conflict with the United States before the United States midterm elections on November 3. Bloomberg reports this, citing sources.

“Iranian officials have privately expressed pessimism about reaching an agreement to end hostilities with Washington and reopen the Strait of Hormuz ahead of U.S. midterm elections in November, according to people familiar with the matter,” the publication said.

According to the agency, negotiations between representatives of Iran and the United States, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, did not lead to significant progress. At the same time, Tehran considers the likelihood of an escalation of the conflict after the vote in the United States to be high.
