He did not hesitate to destroy an electronic handgun and skipped bail this month to abscond. It has entered the 24th day. According to the latest news from the prosecutors and police, the task force recently arrested two more suspects who helped hide the suspects. The number of people involved in this "escape aid case" has soared to 16. However, the whereabouts of Zhang Junjie himself are still unknown. The mysterious layout behind this cross-sea escape plan that alarmed the national security agencies gradually came to light as the accomplices were arrested one by one.
An in-depth investigation by the prosecutors revealed that this segmented escape network spanning multiple counties and cities had a very sophisticated organizational structure. The 16 accomplices involved in the case were not intelligence agents at all, but were recruited through "contracting" layer by layer through the introduction of acquaintances and local gang connections. What is exaggerated is that many of these accomplices do not know each other at all. Some are only responsible for driving a certain distance, some are responsible for relay transfers, and some specialize in providing five-star hotels or private accommodation. This "no knowledge of each other, everyone is responsible" method is to create layers of investigation breakpoints in Taiwan, so that even if the police catch the driver, the clues will be cut off immediately.
Is such a large and systematic escape plan the "evacuation plan" of the intelligence agency on the other side? Retired national security officials believe that the current situation is more inclined to a cross-border cooperation model in which "funds and escape inducements are provided abroad and executed by gang criminal organizations domestically." In other words, China's intelligence organizations do not need to personally send people to drive to Taiwan to pick them up. They only need to use the underground pipelines that the "Financial Eyes" system has not completely blocked to transfer millions of dollars of "special escape budgets" to local gangs in Taiwan to do it for them, so that they can achieve the goal of survival.
Retired national security officials have concluded that for Chinese intelligence agencies, if Zhang Junjie remains in Taiwan for trial, he is likely to reveal more communist espionage organizations lurking in Taiwan's political arena as the High Prosecutor's Office conducts in-depth investigations. Especially before and after his escape, many of his contacts had been ordered by judges to be detained and banned from seeing him for violating the National Security Law. This made the other side feel the pressure of being exterminated. Therefore, as long as Zhang Junjie can be induced and assisted to "disappear" from Taiwan's judicial view, it is in the best interest of overseas intelligence agencies.
The task force is currently working hard to investigate the communication records and capital flows of the 16 accomplices who were involved in the crime. The core goal is to catch the leader who took overseas funds and acted as the "escape director" behind the scenes. Although an accomplice confessed after arriving at the case that Zhang Junjie was suspected of smuggling out of the country on a smuggling boat from the Chiayi coastal area through arrangements by local forces in the south. However, the investigation unit emphasized that as long as he is still in Taiwan, the prosecutors will absolutely investigate to the end and uproot this chain of interests that extends from abroad to Taiwanese gangs.
