CHP Calls for Parliamentary Investigation Commission on Funding Crisis

CHP Group Chairman Faik Öztrak, who was one of the names appointed to the management by the court's 'absolute nullity' decision, met with journalists in the Parliament.

Öztrak was accompanied by group deputy chairmen Rahmi Aşkın Türeli and Serkan Sarı, Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay and Istanbul Deputy Enis Berberoğlu. Evaluating the funding crisis, Öztrak said, "The proposal to establish an investigation commission should be brought to the agenda on the first day the Parliament is opened."

Stating that the issue should be investigated in detail, Öztrak said, "It all started in 2021, when we asked the question of where the 128 billion dollars is. There is a process that started that year behind most of today's players. The Palace must first explain its account. Otherwise, it is not possible to establish an environment of trust."

'CMB IS NOT THE ONLY RESPONSIBLE'

Group Deputy Chairman Türeli commented, "There is no point in blaming the crisis only on the CMB. Because the president appoints the board's managers. It is an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Treasury and Finance." Türeli stated that they will bring forward legislative proposals on openness, transparency and political ethics in the new legislative year.

Asking questions about AKP's Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, who was mentioned in the fund crisis, CHP's Sarı also said that "the government does not touch its own close circle." Reminding that even the relatives of everyone mentioned in the municipal investigations were visited, Sarı asked why a similar practice was not applied to the close circle of the government.

'THOSE RESPONSIBLE WILL COME TO THE ASSEMBLY IN THE BUDGET'

CHP's Akay also stated that he met with the fund victims and said, "We are faced with a fund profiteering that can be called the corruption of the century. There are people who survived the earthquake and deposited their money. We have an aunt with a heart disease. There are people who invested their severance pay and lost it. CMB established a working group, we do not know what it did. Why did the Minister of Treasury not do what was necessary even though he had knowledge? We have a budget period ahead of us. In this budget period, the relevant institutions, the Minister of Treasury, the Chairman of the CMB, the Chairman of the BRSA will also come. They should be held accountable." "It is necessary and we will follow this issue," he said.

'OUR NATION WILL PROTECT CHP'

Asked whether they conducted a survey on CHP's vote rates, Öztrak said, "We do not conduct a survey, but when we enter the election arena, our nation will protect the CHP, which is Atatürk's trust."
