The New Taipei City Government held the "115th Annual New Taipei City Aboriginal Youth Affairs Symposium" today (6th), inviting 50 indigenous youths aged 18 to 40 to gather and exchange ideas. Through youth policy sharing, entrepreneurial experience, Q&A and meal discussions, they listened to youth opinions on careers New Taipei City Deputy Mayor Liu Heran explained the preliminary planning of the "New Taipei City Original Youth League" and hopes to establish a regular communication platform in the future so that young people can have a more stable channel to participate in policy discussions.
The New Taipei City Aboriginal Peoples Administration Bureau pointed out that the current registered youth population in New Taipei City between the ages of 18 and 40 is about 1.2 million, including about 24,000 indigenous people. Liu Heran said that there is never just one answer to the future of young people. What the public sector needs to do is to give everyone the opportunity to express their thoughts and the resources to choose the path they want to take. In order to make the exchange between young people and the city government more stable, New Taipei City is currently planning to organize the "New Taipei City Original Youth League", which is initially positioned as a consultative organization. It is expected to have 15 members. In the future, they will exchange opinions on issues such as cultural inheritance, public participation, and youth development.

He emphasized that a good youth policy must hear everyone’s real needs through dialogue after conversation. The city government looks forward to allowing more young people to participate in policy discussions in the future, and to allow Yuan Qing’s life experience and perspectives to become an important reference for the continued adjustment of New Taipei City’s youth policy.
New Taipei City Aboriginal Director Siku Yaway and Youth Director Qiu Zhaomei attended the meeting. They respectively explained the policy results and developments regarding the city's continued support to indigenous youth in the aspects of public participation, career development and entrepreneurship.
Tian Yuan, an Atayal youth from Wulai who attended the meeting, shared his journey of returning to his hometown. He had worked in the urban area for many years, but when Typhoon Sudil hit Wulai hard and his hometown was destroyed by heavy rains, he recalled the memory of his grandfather and grandmother holding his hands in the tribal grocery store. So he resolutely quit his job, returned to Wulai and founded the "Hunter Grocery Store", and gradually developed the store into a place for sharing Atayal culture, connecting ecological knowledge, traditional crafts and local tourism, creating a new connection between returning home, culture and his work.
The symposium also invited Internet celebrity Ruisha Chen to share the topic of "Starting from your own position: the practice of career, culture and personal brand" to share her journey from hairdressing to self-media, hosting and cultural work, and how to find her own position in different roles.
