Controversial CAIR Education documents blame America for the September 11 attacks

Educational documents issued by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) revealed controversial allegations, as the Council blamed the September 11, 2001 attacks on “America’s support for Israel,” and accused Washington of “sponsoring Islamophobia” in the wake of the attacks.

Later, the documents that were part of the back-to-school guide for students from kindergarten through 12th grade were deleted, without any explanation.

The curricula stated that the attacks carried out by Al-Qaeda were not motivated by Islamic terrorism, but rather were a response to American foreign policy, including the Gulf War and the military presence in the Middle East. The guide also accused Washington's response of "eroding the civil liberties" of Americans.

The documents angered the families of the September 11 victims, led by Nicholas Harros Jr., who lost his mother in the attack, and described the materials as “evil propaganda” aimed at “poisoning” new generations.

He also criticized the guide for recommending reading Osama bin Laden's "Message to America" ​​and ignoring the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks.

For its part, the Islamic Foundation did not deny withdrawing the link, justifying this with minor modifications to previous content.

Texas and Florida previously classified the organization as a foreign terrorist organization following the conviction of its leaders in 2008 for financing the Hamas movement through the Holy Land Foundation for more than $12 million.
