Truck rolls over, woman dies and three other people are injured in Fortaleza

According to the Ceará Military Fire Department (CBMCE), the truck left Avenida do Aeroporto through the loop that gives access to Avenida Bernardo Manuel when it collided with a sign and overturned, at around 2:40 am. A man and a woman were thrown from the vehicle. The other two people were trapped in the wreckage.

Upon arriving at the scene, Samu confirmed the death of the thrown woman. The thrown man was in serious condition, and rescuers had to use intubation at the scene of the incident. He was then taken to a hospital.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools, including an expander and cutter. After removing the two people from the vehicle, they were taken to the Instituto Doutor José Frota (IJF Centro).

The two people trapped in the wreckage are 18 years old. According to the Fire Department, the man had probable head trauma, periorbital bruising on the right, multiple lacerations to the skull, possible facial trauma, intense pain in the left shoulder and a bleeding wound in the right periorbital region; The woman presented facial contusion, edema in the frontal region of the skull and episodes of nausea.

The Corporation reinforces "the importance of correct use of seat belts by all vehicle occupants, including those in the rear seats, as a fundamental measure to reduce the risk of ejection and the severity of injuries in traffic accidents."
