Candidate for Government of Maranhão suspends agenda after accident with electric trio that leaves one dead and one injured

According to the Maranhão Civil Police (PC-MA), Raimundo Santos Martins did not have a compatible license to drive a truck. He only had a National Driving License (CNH) in category B.

The accident happened during a motorcade held in the municipality. Eduardo died at the scene after being hit by the electric trio. The attorney general of the Municipality of Imperatriz, Solon Rodrigues dos Anjos Neto, was also hit. He suffered a cut and a severe blow to his leg, suffered a broken limb and received medical attention in Riachão. Afterwards, it was sent to Imperatriz

The chief of staff of the Municipal Department of Agriculture of Imperatriz, Eduardo Massoli, died after being run over by an electric trio during a campaign motorcade for candidate for the Government of Maranhão Eduardo Braide (PSD), on the morning of this Tuesday (22), in Riachão, in the south of the state.

According to witnesses, the electric trio had lost the brakes during the motorcade and pressed the victim against a pole.

The attorney general of the Municipality of Imperatriz, Solon Rodrigues dos Anjos Neto, was also hit. He suffered a cut and a severe blow to his leg, received treatment in Riachão and was later taken to Imperatriz. According to information gathered by TV Mirante, there is no risk of death.

After the accident, Braide released a note in which he regretted the death, wished the injured person a recovery and informed that he had suspended his agenda for the next few days. See the full text:

“I deeply regret the accident that occurred this morning, during the motorcade in Riachão, which left one person injured and, unfortunately, a fatal victim.

In this moment of pain, I sympathize with the families and friends of the victims and wish the injured person a speedy recovery.

Out of respect for the victims and their families, my schedule for the next few days is suspended.”
