Candidate who rose to third place in polls of voting intentions for the Presidency of the Republic, writer Augusto Cury (Avante) left a series of businesses in Florida out of the declaration of assets he presented to the Brazilian Electoral Court.
Cury is the presidential candidate who declared the largest assets, R$ 242.3 million, but at least three companies in the United States — in addition to two in Brazil — were left out of the list, made up mainly of debts receivable from family businesses and equity interests.
Through his team, the candidate said that his assets were "built lawfully" and that any inconsistencies in the declaration presented will be corrected.
The writer has five registrations with the Division of Corporations of the Florida Secretary of State, the equivalent of the state Board of Trade. Two of the companies appear in their declaration to the TSE. The other three, which collected the necessary fees to remain open in 2026, were left out.
The two companies reported to the Court are Intelligence School, established in 2014, and Love Story Josefina —renamed Love Story Investments in 2021—, from 2017. Cury Academia Comportamental, Contemplare Investments and Free Mind Publish, opened between 2021 and 2024, are the ones left out.
Florida records identify the people authorized to act for each company, but do not report the percentage of ownership of each one or the capital invested. In the three omitted companies, Cury appears as an authorized member. In one of them, he is the only one.
Intelligence School bought and sold at least four properties in Orlando, in transactions totaling US$13.5 million from 2014 to 2024, according to deeds registered with the Orange County Clerk's Office.
In Brazil, Contemplare is the name of a company owned by Cury that also does not appear in his declaration.
With the corporate purpose of leasing its own properties, renting and leasing its own land for agricultural exploration and managing its own properties, the company was registered in Dumont (SP), in 2022, and transferred to Ribeirão Preto in July this year.
Also left out of the declaration was the Academia de Pensar e Brincar, of which the writer is a managing partner alongside his wife and two daughters, registered in the field of recreational activities with a share capital of R$12 thousand.
Among the largest assets, the candidate declared that he had R$25.8 million in BDRs — certificates issued in Brazil by depository institutions, backed by shares in foreign companies and traded on B3.
From December 2020 to the first half of 2023, Arco Educação, a company that already operated in the field of educational platforms, paid R$589.1 million to Cury's family for the purchase of Escola da Intelligence, a company founded by the writer and one of his daughters, according to the company's balance sheets.
The company provided material and teacher training for extracurricular classes to develop emotional activities in students. A person close to the writer described the transaction as his main business thus far.
Cury also informed the TSE that he had R$31.5 million as a "participating partner" of Fictor Invest. The same amount appears in his name in the initial list of creditors for a judicial recovery of the Fictor group, passed on by his team to Folha.
In the document, the credit is classified as unsecured (without guarantees) and described as arising from the termination of partnership contracts in a participation account. His wife, Suleima Cabrera Farhate Cury, is also on the list, for R$1.3 million.
The credits subject to the process total R$4.26 billion, of which R$4.19 billion in the class in which Cury is registered.
Fictor filed for judicial recovery this year and was involved in an attempt to buy Banco Master in 2025 before the liquidation decreed by the Central Bank.
On his list of assets, the writer's biggest asset is a loan from Philadelphia Nature, a company in which he owns 99.97% and which has his wife and three daughters as minority shareholders. It's R$121 million, according to the statement. The registration information does not indicate a date or payment terms.
Philadelphia maintains six branches located on farms in São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Piauí, according to documents registered with the commercial board. Declared activities include growing soybeans, corn, sugarcane and eucalyptus and raising cattle.
Three of these farms —Tamboril and Sobradinho, Pernambuco and Serra Branca, all in Prata (MG)— were transferred by Cury to the company in an act registered in January this year, for the value of R$3 million.
The candidate declared 19 rural items to the TSE, totaling R$6.7 million, but none of them have a municipality, area or registration number — which is common among candidates — and six of them repeat names: two Fazenda Serra Branca, two Fazenda Pernambuco and two Fazenda Sobradinho.
Five of these items bear the names of the three farms transferred to Philadelphia. As the declaration does not indicate registration, it is not possible to determine whether they are the same properties or different plots. A query to the National Registry Operator using the writer's CPF locates 50 registrations in Prata, with numerical registrations in sequences, typical of area dismemberment.
A member of Cury's team stated that the candidate's group will analyze the declaration of assets and considered that, in the case of rural properties, there was the possibility that farms with the same name are made up of separately registered lots, part of them in the name of the writer and part in the name of his companies.
The information did not come explicitly in the note sent by the team: "The candidate declared to the Electoral Court assets worth R$ 242.2 million. These are investments in multiple companies and in different sectors, forming assets built in a lawful manner, in consultation with notable economists and managers", says the text.
"If specific inconsistencies are identified in the release of asset information, appropriate measures will be taken to correct it, in accordance with the law", concludes the note, without further details.
