Candidacies of Carlos Jararaca and Linhares Jiboia are rejected by the TSE

The situations appear as “unsuitable” in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) candidacy disclosure system. With the decisions, the two candidates are, at this moment, out of the electoral dispute.

The candidacy of Carlos Alberto de Almeida Cavalcante, registered as Carlos Jararaca, appears as “rejected”. Among the reasons indicated by the system are absence of eligibility conditions, failure to comply with formal requirements provided for in Law No. 9,504/97 and other reasons.

In the case of Linhares Jiboia, the candidacy also appears as rejected, but the status of the party, federation or coalition appears as “rejected”.

Carlos Alberto de Almeida Cavalcante, registered with the Electoral Court as Carlos Jararaca, is 62 years old, is a businessman and has worked as an industrial commercial representative for 32 years.

Born in Acari, in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte, he has lived in Natal since 1974. This was the first time that Carlos ran for Government of Rio Grande do Norte. He had already run for a state deputy seat for the PSDC in the 2010 and 2014 elections, but was not elected.

According to the TSE system, the candidacy was rejected for three reasons indicated on the page: lack of eligibility conditions, failure to meet formal requirements set out in electoral legislation and others.

Gladyer Linhares Godeiro, 49 years old, is a businessman and born in Mossoró, in the western region of Rio Grande do Norte. He was running for the first time for a seat in the Federal Senate for Christian Democracy (DC), using the electoral name Linhares Jiboia.

The businessman has already participated in three other elections in Rio Grande do Norte. In 2012, he was a candidate for vice-mayor of São Gonçalo do Amarante for the PSC, using the name Gladiador. In 2014, he ran for a state deputy seat for the PSB.
