Italian police recovered 3 million dollar paintings stolen from the museum

Police have just recovered 3 paintings worth more than 10 million USD (260 billion VND), stolen 5 months ago from the museum in an incident of less than 3 minutes.

On August 14, police from Italy's cultural heritage protection unit found works of art in an apartment in Parma, northern Italy. Nine Moldovan citizens were investigated over the theft.

Police also released a video of the theft, showing two masked suspects breaking in through a window, taking three paintings off the wall and then immediately escaping the building through the museum garden.

Art experts say the estimated value of the exhibits is more than 10 million USD, including: the work "Tasse et ‌Plat de Cerises" ("Cherry Cup and Saucer") by Paul Cézann is valued at 7 million USD; "Les Poissons" ("The Fishes") by Auguste Renoir, $3.5 million and "Odalisque sur la Terrasse" ("The Mermaid on the Terrace") by Henri Matisse, $23,000.

The paintings were stolen from the Fondazione Magnani Rocca museum in Mamiano di Traversetolo, on the night of March 22-23.

The theft follows a series of major thefts at famous museums in Europe, including the theft in October of French royal treasures and other items worth 88 million euros ($101 million) from the Louvre museum in Paris.
