Carmen Fúnez (PP) criticizes the installation of a settlement for migrants in the port of Ceuta

The Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Policy of the Popular Party, Carmen Fúnez, has criticized that the Government of Spain has decided to install a settlement for migrants in the port of Ceuta which, as she recalled, is a "strategic infrastructure" for security.

In statements to the media this Sunday in Villanueva de los Infantes (Ciudad Real), Fúnez stressed that there are reports from State Ports and the State security forces and bodies that state that "the port of Ceuta is a strategic infrastructure for the security of the people of Ceuta and the Spaniards."

For this reason, he has asserted that "it is not the space to set up a camp with 1,000 of the irregulars who are still wandering the streets of Ceuta", and he has reminded the Government that it has the obligation to "listen" to the people of Ceuta and that both the government of the autonomous city and the residents of the neighborhood or the port authority are against this settlement.

For Fúnez, the Government has not known how to prevent the crisis, it has not known how to react and now it does not know how to prevent solving the problem, and he has accused the sole command of being opposition instead of seeking solutions to the problem.

He added that the installation of the camp reveals the Government's "inability" to solve a problem that it only intends to "park", while what Ceuta needs is "support, solutions, solidarity and empathy."

The Popular Party's Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Policy recalled that this Monday the school year begins in a situation "of tremendously unfair abnormality for families and minors."
