Turnout in Saxony-Anhalt elections exceeded 50%

The turnout in the elections to the regional parliament (Landtag) of the federal German state of Saxony-Anhalt by 15:00 Moscow time exceeded 50% and amounted to 54.4%. In the previous Landtag elections in 2021, by this time the turnout was 27.1%.

BERLIN, September 6 - RIA Novosti. The turnout in the elections to the regional parliament (Landtag) of the federal German state of Saxony-Anhalt at 14.00 (15.00 Moscow time) exceeded 50%, the regional election commission reports.

Elections to the State Assembly of Saxony-Anhalt take place on September 6, with the participation of 16 political parties and 398 candidates. Voting was organized at 2.6 thousand polling stations in 41 electoral districts. In total, about 1.7 million residents of the region are included in the voter lists.

“By 14.00 (15.00 Moscow time) the turnout was 54.4%,” the Saxony-Anhalt election commission said in a statement.

It is noted that at the same time in the previous elections to the Landtag on June 6, 2021, the turnout was 27.1%.

Polling stations will close at 18.00 (19.00 Moscow time). The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the first interim election results in Saxony-Anhalt after 19.00 (20.00 Moscow time).
