Dear fuels, the Eni effect is worth seven thousandths. Europe's warning on energy consumption

ROME – The Eni effect is there, but it is worth little. In fact, very little. Seven thousandths. The average price of fuel in self-service mode along the road network is at 2.152 euros per liter for petrol from 2.159 yesterday, while diesel is at 2.369 euros from 2.377 yesterday. On the motorway network, where Eni also applies the price cap, green fuel is sold at 2.214 euros per liter (2.254 yesterday), diesel at 2.420 (2.459 yesterday).

The ranking of the regions

"Thanks to Eni's laudable initiative, prices are falling today, but very little. In the regions the drop was even smaller", remarks UNC president Massimiliano Dona. According to the association's report, the winner as a region for the best reduction in prices, both for petrol and diesel, is Friuli Venezia Giulia (-2.6 cents per liter for diesel, -2.4 for petrol), "where the Eni network is very vast". The silver medal for both fuels goes to Lazio: -1.5 cents for diesel, -1.3 for petrol. Then there is Abruzzo, -1.4 and -1.1 respectively.

"In these three regions the presence of Eni stations is very significant. Sardinia is the black sheep for diesel compared to a very limited presence of Enilive stations. In Lombardy, however, the effect on the average was very limited. The region is placed in the middle of the table despite a massive presence of Eni", notes Dona.

"In short, the initiative has served and is positive - these are his words again - especially for those who live or have an Eni station near where they work. We will have to wait a few days to see if the presumed drop in sales of other brands will move the market and also encourage other companies to reduce prices. But these data also tell us that the government must do its part and cannot wash its hands of it like Pontius Pilate, perhaps taking credit for Eni's initiative".

Europe's warning

Meanwhile, from Europe comes the warning to lower energy consumption, gas and electricity in particular, to cool the markets. Which today, record a new rise in gas on the TTF square in Amsterdam, where it touches 73.5 euros, with futures contracts for the month of October gaining 1.95% to 73.47 euros per MWh. In addition to international tensions, mitigated by the possible resumption of negotiations between the USA and Iran, the maintenance of the extraction and distribution plants in Norway weighs heavily, affecting an amount of 5 million cubic meters per day.
