Fraudsters are offering Russians to receive supposedly foreign inheritance through cryptocurrency.
They ask to transfer cryptocurrency for paperwork, a bank guarantee or passing exchange control, presenting each new payment as the last step before receiving the money.
The expert recommended stopping communication if there is any demand to pay in advance for receiving an inheritance and not transferring money to unknown crypto-wallets.
MOSCOW, October 6 - RIA Novosti. Fraudsters are offering Russians to receive supposedly foreign inheritance through cryptocurrency, said cybersecurity expert Semyon Tyutyuev.
“First, a person is informed about a large inheritance abroad. Then they are offered to transfer cryptocurrency for paperwork, a bank guarantee or passing exchange control. Each new payment is presented as the last step before receiving the money,” Tyutyuev told Gazeta.ru.
According to the expert, the calculation is based on the fact that a person has a legitimate reason to expect money from abroad. Cryptocurrency is presented to the victim as the only available way to get what supposedly rightfully belongs to him, Tyutyuev emphasized.
