Madbouly inaugurates the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam and Station project in Tanzania

Madbouly stressed that the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam and Station project is of great importance because it embodies the ability and capabilities of Egyptian national companies, with their professional elements, to implement such major projects at the international level, especially in Africa, in a way that enhances the Egyptian state’s efforts to support development efforts in African countries. He stressed that the Egyptian coalition implementing the project made a distinguished effort, and that Egypt is ready to participate in the implementation of any development projects in sister African countries.

Madbouly said in statements during the opening activities of the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam and Station project in the United Republic of Tanzania that this huge development project received the attention and care of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his constant directives to advance its work progress and implement its various components and stages at the highest level.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Prime Minister participated today, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the opening activities of the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam and Station project, which was implemented by the Egyptian coalition consisting of Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric in the Republic of Tanzania, accompanied by a high-level official delegation that includes Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Engineer Randa El Minshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria and former Deputy Director of the Alliance. Sherif Ismail, Egyptian Ambassador to the Republic of Tanzania, Engineer Ahmed Al-Assar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Contractors Company, Engineer Ahmed Al-Suwaidi, CEO and Managing Director of El-Sewedy Electric Company, and officials and representatives of the Egyptian coalition implementing the project.

Following the inspection tour of the project components, the opening activities of the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam and Station began under the patronage of Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania, Dr. Emmanuel John Nshimbe, Vice President of Tanzania, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, and Dr. Mwigulu Nshimba, Prime Minister of Tanzania, in the presence of a number of officials of the Republic of Tanzania, including the Speaker of Parliament, the President of the Judiciary, the Minister of Energy, and the Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Energy and Minerals.

The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthem and the performance of an opening prayer that included members of the Supreme Islamic Council, the Christian Council of Churches, and the Conference of Catholic Bishops in the Republic of Tanzania.

The events witnessed a presentation and a documentary film reviewing the stages of implementation of this giant strategic project, in addition to various artistic and cultural segments, followed by speeches by a number of senior officials in the Republic of Tanzania, and concluded with a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania.
