Hebrew media reported that Bennett explicitly called for excluding Turkey and Qatar from any future role in the sector and handing the entire file over to Cairo.
Israeli channel i24news said that the leader of the Likud party and former prime minister Naftali Bennett revealed during his speech at the party's national security conference at the end of last week his security plan, affirming that the collapse of Israel's security concept on October 7 had not been corrected by the current government, describing it as the October 7 government that remains a slave to the security concepts of October 6, while outlining a national security approach based on military, economic, diplomatic, and internal strength.
The Hebrew channel added that Bennett considered the idea that the Peace Council, Turkey, and Qatar could protect the security of Gaza's residents to be a mistake, affirming that Hamas should have been destroyed during the war but the current government simply abandoned that goal, pointing out that decisions regarding Israel's security are now being made not in Israel but in Qatar.
He also pointed out that Bennett pledged to expel Qatar and Turkey from Gaza and replace them with Egypt, adding that allowing Qatar and Turkey to manage Gaza prevents the dismantling of Hamas.
The former prime minister declared that Hamas currently has a larger number of armed fighters compared to what it had on October 7, and that it is rearming and training to launch future attacks, at a time when Israeli soldiers are prevented from targeting armed terrorists in the absence of a direct threat, affirming that under his leadership Israel will not move off the yellow line until Hamas is completely disarmed and those weapons are removed from Gaza.
Bennett also said that Qatar should be officially declared an enemy state, accusing it of financing the October 7 massacre and working to undermine Israel from within, calling on Jewish communities and Israel's allies worldwide to sever ties with Doha.
Regarding Iran, Bennett proposed the opposite of what he described as the current government's deterrence equation, saying that if Hezbollah fires at us we will respond by firing at Iran, adding that his former government has already struck inside Iran twice in response to proxy attacks, and that the goal should be to accelerate the collapse of the Iranian regime using political, economic, and technological tools alongside military ones.
Bennett also called for mandatory military service without exceptions for Jewish men from the Haredim, for a comprehensive overhaul of Israel's education system, and for the creation of a national public diplomacy agency similar to the 8200 intelligence unit, noting that Israel must also work to expand the Abraham Accords and pursue normalization with Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
These statements come amid ongoing debate within the Israeli political scene about the next-day file in the Gaza Strip, where Cairo firmly rejects any direct security or administrative role in the sector and insists that the solution must be Palestinian in principle, at a time when various Israeli parties are seeking regional alternatives ranging from involving moderate Arab states or other regional powers, which Bennett strongly rejects in favor of limiting Egypt's role at the expense of Turkey and Qatar.
