Russian travel blogger: “In Bali, Russian speech sounds more often than English”

Russian travel blogger Ekaterina visited a popular Asian resort - the Indonesian island of Bali - and described it with the phrase “Russian speech sounds more often than English.” She shared her observations on her personal blog “I am Katya | I live on travel" on the Zen platform.

The author of the publication explained why many compatriots leave Moscow apartments, stable salaries and their usual lives for a volcanic island on the other side of the world. The first reason is the prices, which are “hard to believe at first.”

“My housing right now is a room in a villa with a swimming pool and a kitchen for about 20 thousand rubles a month. And this is not an economy option, but an absolutely normal life in a beautiful area in a villa with a swimming pool,” Ekaterina was amazed.

She added that breakfast in a Balinese cafe costs in Russian currency from about 200 to 1000 rubles per person, a mug of cappuccino costs from 120 rubles, and renting a good scooter costs from 7 thousand rubles per month.

The second reason why Russians love Bali is its beautiful and diverse nature. “In the morning you work in a cafe among the rice fields. An hour later you are already sitting by the ocean. And in the evening you can go see the volcano. Bali seems to have gathered all the best in one place,” the traveler explained.

In addition, according to the Russian woman, this Indonesian island is an ideal place for remote workers, and the process of obtaining a visa there is quite simple. “E-VOA is available for Russians: 30 days upon entry, plus another 30 after extension, for a total of 60 days. It costs about 2.2 thousand rubles, is issued online in half a minute and confirmed at the airport,” she said.

Catherine also admitted that life in Bali has its downsides. These include terrible traffic jams during rush hour, humidity that “destroys the installation in 10 minutes,” construction sites, noise, chaotic traffic and crowds of tourists in popular places.
