Body of young man who disappeared after a watercraft accident is found in MT

Matheus had been wanted by teams from the Brazilian Fire Department and Navy since his disappearance. Location work began on Saturday and resumed on Sunday morning.

The case is also marked by the behavior of the people who accompanied the young man. According to reports from the family and employees of an inn, part of the group left the place after the accident, before the police arrived. Security guards managed to prevent two members from leaving.

According to the reports presented, one of the people who was with Matheus took a while to ask for help and presented different versions of what had happened. In one of them, the young man would have removed his life jacket and entered the water to wait for help. In another, it would have sunk into the lake during the accident.

The divergence in information made it difficult to identify the exact point where Matheus disappeared, which required searches in different areas indicated by witnesses.

The watercraft involved in the incident was seized by the Navy. The circumstances of the accident must still be investigated by the maritime authority, which said it would open a procedure to determine the causes and possible responsibilities.
