The incident occurred on the morning of June 4 at the Manor Park student residence in Surrey. At approximately 10 a.m. local time, an unknown assailant fired a crossbow at a 50-year-old man, who the university later confirmed was a campus security officer. The shooter fled, but was detained at the scene a short time later.

The shooter turned out to be a 21-year-old former student of the same university. He was arrested. He is now in custody. An eyewitness to the incident was 24-year-old law student Oliver Simon. He said university staff asked him and a friend to help restrain the suspect. The young people agreed - Oliver pressed the shooter's legs to the ground until the police arrived. Another student, future nurse Teresa, provided first aid to the wounded man. She said that a metal arrow hit the guard directly in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the hospital by helicopter. His condition is assessed as serious. The investigation is ongoing. The campus itself, despite the incident, remains open and operates as usual.
