Henry Harman Adamsson was an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Institute of Integrated Circuits and System Applications. He died in Shanghai at 2:43 a.m. on August 12, 2026 due to a sudden illness and failed rescue efforts. He was 63 years old.

"In 2016, I strongly invited him to come to China to work full-time. He resolutely brought his family to Beijing from Sweden and has since taken root in China, treating it as his second home." Ye Tianchun, former director of the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chairman of the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Institute of Integrated Circuits and System Applications, recalled with a heavy heart at the scene.

"He once told me that he would live in China from now on and that this is his second hometown. His family lives in China and he likes Chinese culture very much. After working at the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for a period of time, he told me that he likes it here very much. Everyone is very tolerant and can cooperate well." Ye Tianchun said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Service.

Ye Tianchun affectionately called him Henry, "Henry is an open-minded and friendly ambassador committed to international cooperation. He gives full play to his international academic influence and actively builds a bridge for scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between China and Europe."

According to reports, in 2012, at the invitation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Henry Harman Adamsson became a visiting professor at the Academy, and has since formed an indissoluble bond with China. In 2016, he came to China from Sweden and became a researcher at the Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In August 2019, the Guangdong Greater Bay Area Integrated Circuit and System Application Research Institute was established in Guangzhou, with him serving as the chief scientist. He once said that China promotes development through innovation, constantly explores new technologies and new business formats, and builds an international innovation cooperation platform. He hopes that exchanges and cooperation between China and European countries, including Sweden, will go further in the field of science and technology.

"He dedicated ten precious years of his life to China. His life was a life of pursuing scientific truth, a life of teaching and educating people, and a life of promoting friendly cooperation between China and foreign countries," Ye Tianchun said. (over)
