Following the BRICS summit, the leaders of the countries adopted the New Delhi Declaration, in which they expressed support for multipolarity and reform of the governance system at the global level, and also opposed unilateral sanctions and tariff barriers.

MOSCOW, September 14 - RIA Novosti. The adoption of the final declaration following the BRICS summit became a convincing argument for the viability and prospects of the association, said Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was in New Delhi from September 11 to 13, where he participated in the events of the XVIII BRICS summit. On the sidelines of the summit, the head of state held a series of bilateral meetings. Following the summit, the leaders of the association countries adopted the New Delhi Declaration.

“A convincing argument for the viability and prospects of BRICS was the adoption of a common declaration. The positions stated in it in support of multipolarity and reform of the governance system at the global level, as well as against unilateral sanctions and tariff barriers, were supported by all participants of the summit,” Slutsky told the online publication NEWS.RU.

According to the deputy, the most important results of the summit were unity, growth of influence and willingness to work for results. He also noted that the West highlighted the transformation of BRICS into a “growing ecosystem of solutions.”

“Vladimir Putin’s speech and his meetings on the sidelines of the summit were, as expected, closely monitored in the West, and joint photos were “jealously studied.” A real shock for the “Eurohawks” was the Russian president’s harsh warning that the deployment of European troops to Ukraine would mean a direct entry into war with Russia,” Slutsky noted.

He emphasized that this was a preventive response to everyone who, under the pretext of “security guarantees” for Kyiv, was discussing foreign intervention.

Slutsky also said that the West is surprised by the preservation of BRICS unity and is concerned about the organization’s growing influence on world processes. The West, according to the deputy, is nervous about the loss of leadership and the irreversibility of the destruction of the unipolar world.
