US Presidential Special Envoy for Belarus John Cole hopes for the release of hundreds more prisoners by Minsk.

Cole said he hopes all prisoners can be released by the end of the year.

WASHINGTON, September 16 - RIA Novosti. US Presidential Special Envoy for Belarus John Cole said he hopes Minsk will release hundreds more prisoners.

Earlier, Cole said that as a result of the US-Belarusian negotiations, Minsk would release 25 people from prison as a gesture of goodwill.

“I hope that hundreds more (prisoners will be released - ed.). I don’t know. I hope so,” he said in an interview with Reuters.

Cole added that he believes "all prisoners" could be released before the end of the year.
