Visit to Taiwan and Germany... Investment environment briefing session held in Seoul

(Gumi = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Hyun-tae = Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, is accelerating its efforts to attract investment from domestic and foreign companies and develop overseas markets by leveraging its competitiveness in high-tech industries such as semiconductors.

The Gumi City delegation, headed by Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, will visit the '2026 Taiwan International Semiconductor Exhibition (Semicon Taiwan)' held at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan on the 4th.

The delegation will inspect the booths of six local companies on site and help them advance into overseas markets.

The event is a global semiconductor exhibition that started in 1995. This year, more than 1,300 companies from 65 countries will participate, operate 4,300 booths, and are expected to attract more than 100,000 visitors.

The delegation will also visit Taoyuan City, a high-tech industry and aviation logistics hub city.

We will observe an exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of the friendship between cities and discuss ways to expand exchanges in future industries, culture, and arts.

After attending an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of nurses dispatched to Germany, we will visit urban conversion sites in the Rhine-Ruhr region, including Essen, and look at cases of utilizing industrial heritage as cultural and tourism resources.

Gumi City also carried out investment attraction activities in Seoul.

At the '2026 Gumi City Investment Environment Briefing' held at the Air Force Hotel on the 2nd, Gumi's industrial and investment environment and future vision were introduced, with about 170 people attending, including businessmen, people from finance, and journalists.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "We will make attracting investment the top administrative priority and create a city where companies want to invest," and emphasized, "We will speed up industrial space innovation by laying the foundation for local companies to enter the overseas market and concretizing overseas urban transformation cases into a Gumi-type cultural industrial complex model."
